We have been working in the Rama & Kukra Hill areas of Nicaragua's Atlantic Coast since 2011 with a focus on empowering women, improving education for both adults and children, and increasing access to basic services.
EcoPlanet Bamboo is the world's largest owner and operator of commercial bamboo plantations and has pioneered the industrialization of bamboo as a mechanism to provide a market solution to deforestation. In doing so our operations bring about positive social impact in poverty stricken communities around the world. These developments are managed through the EcoPlanet Foundation.
Each year the EcoPlanet Foundation carries out targeted projects, predominantly within the communities, villages and rural towns surrounding each of EcoPlanet Bamboo's operations. These operations are currently focused on Nicaragua, South Africa and Ghana.
ECOPLANET BAMBOO- FOUNDATION
Our communities in Ghana's Ashanti region suffer from abject poverty, with income levels below $2/day. These families have no access to basic services including energy, running water, education or healthcare.
The Ndlambe Municipality in South Africa's Eastern Cape suffers from >85% unemployment rates. Our long term projects are focused on developing self sufficient communities that can provide for themselves.
