ECOPLANET FOUNDATION - NICARAGUA
Nicaragua's Atlantic Coast is home to EcoPlanet Bamboo's oldest bamboo plantations and soon to be processing operations. Having created more than 350 jobs in this region EcoPlanet Bamboo has a major presence. The communities surrounding our farms have become our family and our vision is to ensure that they have sustainable livelihoods for generations to come.
Environmental awareness and education is a major priority for the Government of Nicaragua. Over the past 6 years we have had ongoing campaigns and programs to bring such programs into the schools and communities surrounding EcoPlanet Bamboo's plantations.
Investor School Visits
Connecting EcoPlanet Bamboo's investors to the schools that EcoPlanet Foundation is committed to working with proved a huge success. Educational supplies, sports gear and numerous other donations created links between schools in the UK and ours in Nicaragua.
Teaching children about the importance of proper waste management and giving them pride in the beautification and maintenance of clean living environments.
The majority of the 350 unskilled workers that are employed on EcoPlanet Bamboo's Nicaragua bamboo plantations are illiterate. We have now carried out many years of adult education programs.
Over the past five years we have carried out a number of special projects focused on the provision of training and skills to local communities, allowing entrepreneurial individuals to subsequently develop their own small businesses and increase levels of income.
Teaching children to take pride in their surroundings, and ensuring clean and safe infrastructure in target schools.
